South Bay TMS Therapy Center, located in Manhattan Beach, CA, is overseen by medical director Dr Koo initially opened the South Bay TMS Therapy Center in 2010, and she was the first private practice psychiatrist in Southern California to provide TMS Therapy to her patients. As an expert psychopharmacologist, psychoanalyst and TMS physician, Dr Koo is uniquely poised to comprehensively evaluate an individual's depression and recommend the most efficacious treatment available.
After performing a comprehensive psychiatric consultation, Dr. Koo works collaboratively with you to determine the ideal treatment intervention. She takes into consideration treatment efficacy, expense, time to symptom resolution, and potential side effects. Dr. Koo does not believe that treatment response is sufficient; her goal is for patients to achieve remission––complete resolution of symptoms and return to a fully functioning lifestyle.
Globally, an estimated 350 million people of all ages suffer from depression, and in the United States, depression affects approximately 14 million people annually. Of those who suffer, approximately 30% do not benefit from, or are intolerant to antidepressant medication.
Our mission is to significantly increase our patients’ wellbeing, using effective modalities in a warm, safe and encouraging environment. We know that a cure is not necessary to make profound positives changes in the lives of those suffering from mood and other disorders, and at the core of our values is offering hope and solutions to those we treat with remission as the main goal.
South Bay TMS Therapy Center staff stay on the cutting edge of research and technology, always seeking innovative modalities to increase treatment efficacy. We constantly strive to improve the lives of our patients by expanding our services and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of medical treatments available to those who are suffering so they can be treated.
