Professional TMS Consultation
Nobody likes to be depressed, feeling like there is no hope in the world. While there are many different levels of depression that one can go through in life, with a variety of methods to combat or manage depression, there is no one surefire cure for all cases. Hence, a myriad of approaches are at the disposal of the psychiatrist or doctor, including a range of medications, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Prior to starting treatment, each patient will have a professional consultation with the attending Psychiatrist. During the consultation, our experienced Psychiatrist will review your past clinical information and rule out any contraindications to receiving the treatment. While these contraindications are limited in scope, we want to ensure the safety and efficacy of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for each one of our patients. If any questions haven’t been answered about the treatment in the initial phone conversation with our administrative director, our experienced MD will spend the time making sure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about receiving this life changing treatment.
The idea of TMS therapy might be new to those who have sought various ways to escape the clutches of depression over the years, so having an experienced and understanding staff at South Bay TMS listen to questions that might arise in a professional consultation will go a long way to alleviate any fear or concern.. We recommend bringing a trusted family member or friend to accompany you during the consultation process and provide moral support during your journey towards recovery.
We ask that potential patients be willing to disclose information concerning medication taken, psychotherapy courses, as well as the various treatments undergone thus far. This allows for us to comprise a specific TMS therapy protocol individually tailored to best address the needs of the patient. By taking psychiatric and emotional conditions into account, we will make an accurate diagnosis for each individual patient, maximizing the success in overcoming depression.
